This is Brigid is an overview of the much-loved Goddess and Saint of Ireland. As an expression of the Great Mother, Brigid was venerated Goddess in Pagan Ireland. She was daughter of the Dagda, consort to Bres and mother to Ruadan. She is the triple Goddess of Poetry, Healing and Smithcraft. She is also Goddess of the Fire, Goddess of the Spring and Goddess of the Sun. She exists in the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water and is of the four elements. She exists within all stages of Womanhood of Maiden, Lover, Mother, Queen and Crone. She is the giver of life and whom we return home to in death through the earth, her body.

‘This is Brigid’ -

Goddess & Saint of Ireland

Season of the year

Samhain (Northern Hemisphere) November 1st to December 21st

Hail and welcome Maman Brigitte!

Samhain marks the beginning of the deep descent into the dark part of the year. Maman Brigitte is the dark aspect of the Goddess Brigid that emerged into the Vodun religion of Haiti during the slave trade. Brigitte assists with all earthly struggles that include entrapment, displacement, fear, abandonment, isolation, shadow work and much much more!

Goddess Brigid

Brigid is a liminal Goddess, often found on the threshold. As Goddess, I feel her to be life-giving Mother, at home within us all and visible externally in all forms of nature. As Divine Mother she is present for everyone, particularly for those feeling on the edge, far removed, invisible, silenced, not belonging and not worthy. Having grown up in Ireland I learned about Brigid as a Christian Saint, but it is in her essence as Goddess that I connect with and honour her the most.

To honour the sacred feminine means many things to many people. For me, it is essentially, restoring a much-needed balance in this world that has felt tilted to the masculine side for too long. It is also about remembering Her in Irish and other mythology, lore, prayer and intention. It is about recognising the earth as her sacred body and treating it with respect. Mostly it is about recognising the sacred feminine within and giving that power a voice to raise boundaries, encourage growth and empowerment and create a world that feels more compassionate, respectful and tolerant for All inhabitants, especially women.

In service to Brigid, I have written ‘This is Brigid- Goddess & Saint of Ireland’. I am currently researching and planning a research trip for my second book due out in early 2024. I hold space for small groups to work with the energies of the season and speak to small groups about Brigid.
